Thrudvangar Discography

Thrudvangar is a blackened viking metal band that formed in Köthen, Germany in 1998. To date they have released 4 albums, 1 split album and 1 demo. They work well to create a gloomy atmosphere with the instrumentals really working to create this vibe. The folksy rhythms and sounds are used sparingly as the band more often than not opts for the blackened sound. The vocalist has a diverse range and attitude that really blends with tone set by the instrumentals. Ahnenthron and Walhall are two albums like that came around when folk metal was in it's prime. They had such a vivacity about them that really creates a headbanging experience. Listen to "jul" off of Ahnenthron and "das schwert der asen" off of Walhall and turn it up to 11.
