The latest Hooded Menace album is upon us and, though I think it doesn't need any introduction, I'll do a short one for all you people out there who are just discovering the beauty of the occult damnation in the form of some excellent death metal.

This is a relatively new band, but they fucking blasted their way out of the basement due to some well known names in the metal scene, as well as those abominably good riffs throughout their opus. You'll have the fortune to witness those on this release as well, don't you worry. Another thing that will keep you captivated are the vocals, which can only be described as something monstrous created in some horrendous unearthly depths by the undead child of H.P. Lovecraft and Mary Shelley.

So, yeah, haven't written in a while, words kinda fly out by themselves. Anyway, I'm throwing some great death/doom your way. You'd have to be a fool to miss out on this one.

Alright. It's some real heavy shit. Monolithic riffs played at mid-to-slow (mostly slow) pace with a bottom heavy sound, echoey vocals, and hypnotizing beats. The kind of stuff that immediately comes to mind if someone asks for a recommendation of 'heavy' music. It's pulverizing, but has more variety and is considerably more approachable than Horseback Battle Hammer (which is also an amazing release, check it out), Monnos if definitely one of the better albums I've heard this year.

Alright, after listening to it, I'm amazed and blown away with the fact that they actually managed to offer something entirely new! After so many vocal experimentation on all of their previous albums, they've once again succeeded in providing a completely fresh approach. It's truly mind boggling.

The melodies are out of this world, especially on Supreme Humanism of Megalomania. It's just pure evil that immerses you in your entirety. Kollias is still the biggest beast in death metal, regardless of musical taste and misguided opinions. Rhythmically, the album owns with intensity, diversity and complexity. Rarely do we have a chance to hear a release that offers so much fresh and new moments, yet still manages to stay that which makes Nile the band it is. No bullshit.

In fact, this one is definitively the one to battle Annihilation of the Wicked and In Their Darkened Shrines for the Nile throne. Don't trust me? Listen to it for yourself.

It's heavy, it's green, it's emotional. The immersion of this thing is just out of this world, the riffs sound like they were written by the gods themselves and Mario is breaking shit up like there is no fucking tomorrow. Also, Joe sings like a fucking angel... An enraged whale-loving angel.

I've had this for about two weeks but couldn't post it due to the lack of internets in my apartment. The internet has been restored, so I'm back to post some shit.

It's the new album from THIS band, also known as one of the most bonecrushingly heavy sludge outfits today. It sounds less abrasive than the previous one, a bit more 'traditional' sounding. I'd say it's clearer, a bit softer, and more approachable. It's also slower and focuses more on atmosphere and immersion. The previous one was a lot more dynamic and packed a bigger punch with its gritty sound, I found this one a bit monotonous at times, but it did have its moments.

Although I prefer I am God Songs, No Matter Where it Ends isn't a bad album, just different in a way I didn't quite expect.

Their 2008 album had a fairly well produced, bottom-heavy sound, which I really liked, and lots of high pitched inhales. The follow-up didn't do much for me, as the sound had turned to shit, but they're back to the good old fuzzy heaviness with the new one. Also there are more deep gutturals rather than squeals. It's really good.

American black metal with a completely unsubtle approach. Nobody in Krieg has more than a whiff of death metal on their resume but you wouldn't come to that conclusion from their records; front-loaded but extremely well balanced at the same time. I wouldn't go so far as to call them "old school", but they certainly don't have that "new" black metal sound that everyone hates. No bad albums in this bunch, but god damn the The Isolationist is a keeper.
The Black House has a bit of a story behind it: N. Imperial claims to have nightly visions (since he was a child) of himself and loved ones being brutalized in some horrible dream house. The album is an attempt to get over his nightmares as both medicine and therapy have failed. Pretty kvlt.
There is also an EP named Patrick Bateman. Unfortunately I don't have Kill Yourself or Someone You Love; that name is just too good.
Kam Lee is fucking back with another project. And I've waited for this too long.

It's the follow-up to Grotesquery's debut conceptual album. Both are amazing horror stories, originating from the darkest corners of Kam Lee's twisted mind, told through some great death metal that only the Master could create.

Apart from his brutal and legendary vocals, the riffs will just demolish you - from beginning to end! Rarely do we hear such old school riffage, especially when they are followed by thunderous bass lines and bone-crushing drums.

It also happens to be a legitimate gay test. If you don't like this, I'm afraid I have some bad news for you. No, seriously, this is mind-shattering.

Modern fucking warfare. That's basically how I would describe this album, which I discovered a few weeks ago. What we have here is a new Portuguese band, which came into the world of metal not long ago.
This is their first album and it brings some intense drumming, sick
vocals, weird sound effects and mind-fucking solos from first song to the
last. Really mind-blowing 33 minutes of modern death metal is what I'm
talking about.

These guys really deserve some attention, at least for now. Go ahead, pump
this trippy shit into your blood stream.

Is it me or is there a lack of good primitive black metal releases these days?

Luckily, the Russians are here to indulge our desires by releasing their debut album after eight long years. If you're into stuff like Archgoat or Proclamation, this should be right up your alley. Nothing ground-breaking, it's just solid as fuck.

The new Hypnos release has arrived! A fairly well known Czech death metal band to those who are really into the genre. Also, get 'em if you've never heard of 'em.

What you'll get are sick riffs, extremely pounding and the occasional machine gun drums, all accompanied by bone-crushing vocals. Perhaps I'm being generous with the adjectives, but this morning has treated me well and this album is really fucking good.

Throwing some excellent crust punk your way. It's a brand new release from these fuckers (ex-Wolfpack) and it, simply put, owns. It should especially appeal to old school death metal fans, as this one is right up there. A true fine line between crust punk and old school DM, if there ever was one.

I'm not that much of a fan, hence the short review. However, I can't undermine or deny the obvious quality. My, my, the tolerance.

One of Italy's prime brutal/technical death metal acts. This has been out for a few weeks, not sure why I haven't posted it yet. I found it on my hard drive and I figured it's about time I gave it a listen. Standard stuff if you like techy brutal death with elaborately constructed songs with melodic leads. You'll most likely enjoy it if you liked the new Spawn Of Possession.

Now, if you're a fan of underground old school death metal, this band should really come as a true gem. And if it doesn't, that's fucking cool too, it'll still be good enough. To make things sweeter, for me at least, I didn't even know this album was in the works. And, in the light of their previous death metal work, it fucking owns. Only natural, since I'm posting it.

Every song revolves around drugs, sometimes even aliens or pot-smoking zombies (I'm not even kidding), what's not to love? The production is thick as fuck, riffs are really groovy, guitars are downtuned, vocals are murky and echo-y. Sometimes you're slowly headbanging away to the tranquil buzz of the guitars and sometimes you get a catchy-as-fuck solo thrown into your face. It's nothing incredibly new or revolutionary, just stoner metal done right - and it's great!

Quality: ~213 kbps MP3 / ABR

Encyclopaedia Metallum

Rate Your Music

Last.fm

Facebook

Myspace

Download: Mediafire

Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-786905316806959822.post-21553221335030545952012-04-11T16:22:00.003-05:002012-04-11T16:39:18.235-05:00Municipal Waste - The Fatal Feast (2012)
It's the new Municipal Waste. It's crossover thrash. It's not something that we would call "good music", but it has always been fun as fuck.
It's also disappointing. The songs aren't that good but what kills it is the production. Not only did they mix out the bass but the guitars sound like shit.
I'm upset.

Quality: v0

Rate Your Music

Last.fm

Facebook

Myspace

Download: sadness

Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-786905316806959822.post-33988902040929458262012-04-09T10:12:00.003-05:002012-04-09T10:50:04.511-05:00Impiety - Ravage & Conquer (2012)The internet tells me that this "should rule hard", so here's Impiety's 8th completely not kvlt blackened & thrashened church invitation. Legal Fingers found us via my Wizard Rifle post; apparently they're/were touring buddies (slow post sorry guys).
