Night In Gales is a Melodic Death/Thrash band from Germany. Their last album was released 10 years ago in 2001, though I hadn't heard of these guys before.
Anyhow, this album was a bit of a creeper for me. It can actually hook you instantly, because the beginning of the album is so strong. The guitar work is at times very melodic, mixed with some less melodic chugging riffs. The vocals are good when utilized well, but there is too much of that thrash-clean-crap in my opinion. Though it is much better than what I usually hear, and is actually used quite well in Void Venture. The drums are good with some nice double pedaling, blast beats etc but nothing superfancy. As a whole, it comes off quite nicely with a superb production and mix. I feel this is really key here, because lately so many shitty productions and/or rips have been hitting the web which for me completely ruins the experience.
The first tracks are very melodeath-thrash-melodic with that sweet tone together with melodic song structures. Especially the third track, Days of the Mute, it is definitely my favorite with its beautiful riff. After track 6 or so, I feel that the album starts to deviate from the successful recipe. There is nothing wrong with the "other" sound, but to me it's a bit boring. As a whole, I really liked the album and especially the first three tracks (2,3,4).
