Waylander Discography

Waylander is a celtic folk metal band that formed in 1995 in Armagh, Northern Ireland by brothers Ciaran (vocalist) and Dermot (guitarist) O'Hagan. There initial idea was to play 80s style metal though first song that was written had a distinctive Celtic sound to it as this would become Waylander's trademark-sound. Waylander has released in 3 albums and 2 demos. There debut album, Reawakening Pride Once Lost would help to craft there sound as they would blend a harshness and rhythmical melody. The album has a definite blackened feel compliments the musical Celtic styling. The songs "born to the fight" and "king of the fairies" are my definite fr0nt runners on the album. The Light, The Dark And The Endless Knot would be the followup and though a more refined sound it didn't remain the same freshness as their first. The musical styling carried more of a death metal tone than the previous black metal sound. This album defiantly has good parts though lacks good songs. There next album Honour Amongst Chaos would be take the musical styling of there first album and mix that with a clean refined sound. This was a big step in the right direction from there second body of work as the riffing was really stepped up a notch as was the inclusion of the tin whistle as on the first album. The songs "as the deities clash" and "walk with honour" would carry an extreme Celtic sound that I really enjoyed. My favourite from there body of work would be the first album though the third is an equally good listen without the fresh pep that the first would have and are highly recommended.
