Otep - House Of Secrets (2004)

"As long as you are under my roof you will respect me!” So begins Requiem, the first cut on House of Secrets, and it sends a message right away. This is the sophomore album for Otep, and it’s a heavier, harsher and more creative effort than the group’s first release, Sevas Tra. Drummer Joey Jordison rocks so hard that even the musically challenged will pick up a pencil and tap along. Then enters Otep Shamaya, and this woman rocks! There are very few singers who can touch her in a test of raw vocal ability. Her voice combines tantalizing sex appeal with a dark, hoarse growl, and her lyrics are poems ingeniously set to death metal. The title song is the perfect example of the talent that has been unleashed on this album. House of Secrets is a must have.
