Finsterforst Discography

In late 2004, Tobias Weinreich (Bass), Sebastian Scherrer (Keyboards), Marco Schomas (Vocals) and Simon Schillinger (Guitar) founded Finsterforst in Schwarzwald, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. As they were still seeking more members they concentrated purely on songwriting. As a result, they created many songs without being able to perform them until later on.In spring of 2005 the band further added to there sound by adding accordionist Johannes Joesph into their lineup. Later, in May of the same year, the band finally began to practice their songs; but still lacked both a drummer and a rhythm guitarist. In 2006 they would release there first EP, titled Wiege Der Finsternis. Also they hired session rhythm guitarist, David Schuldis as a full time band member after the completion of the EP. The album was a success as it incorporated there dark sound with folk instrumentals, extreme growls and a smooth melodic flow. In 2007 they released the follow up to there EP, Weltenkraft and the band was quickly becoming a very big success in the genre. They didn't stray much from the sound on there original EP and released a noticeably clearer sound due to higher production values on the album due to a new label. The subsequent album, ...Zum Tode Hin would incorporate a more symphonic sound to play off of the extreme vocals. This band is still young and has followed the same extreme and majestic styling as the one that made them successful and defiantly deserves a listen. A solid 9/10 and has a similar sound to their countrymen Equilibrium.
