Equilibrium Discography

Equilibrium was founded 2002 and released their groundbreaking demo in 2003. The demo would simply be dubbed Demo 2003 and would be considered no slouch as after a few years of touring they signed with the label Black Attakk and released their first studio album, Turis Fratyr. With the high success of their first album this catapulted them into a more lucrative deal with Nuclear Blast and they then released Sagas. Following up on there mass success of Sagas, the band had some lineup changes and the vocalist and drummer left. After being replaced they went on to release their third studio album, Rekreatur. At first listen with this band you'll notice the absence of any guitars as they opts to focus on creating an epic atmosphere with heavy keyboarding. With their earlier work being their demo and Turis Fratyr they clearly want to take the listener on a journey through musical high and lows. It's pretty amazing how they create an majestic, epic atmosphere by pacing. One of the things that is great about folk metal is how listening to an atmospheric song kinda puts you in a mood to get your ears bashed in with their relentless balls to the wall epic folk metal and it's becomes everything you thought it could be and more. As this band matures it's clear they want to focus their attention on crafting melodies and strive toward more, for lack of a better word metal sound. Very few bands evolve like this one has and Sagas defiantly deserves a place in the all time folk metal albums. Following up Sagas the release of Rekreatur, in my opinion this did not measure up if only because of mere comparison. Possibly the lineup change may have hurt this band but optimism remains as they have not abandoned their roots. They inclusion of acoustic instrumental remixes that comes with Digibook edition of Rekreatur calm any uneasy nerves that Equilibrium would go off the reservation. They are committed to their sound and we can only hope for a stellar followup. Currently another album hasn't been slated but hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.
