I'd like to start off by saying that Breathing Is Irrelevant is by far my favorite mathcore album, so get it, it's really good.

Ion Dissonance are bros of the mighty Canadian band Despised Icon. They're the kind of band that made some remarkable albums in one genre, then shifted styles to something not so appealing to old fans. The first two, Breathing Is Irrelevant and Solace are archetypical mathcore albums. Fast, chaotic, abrasive; the aural equivalent of being stranglefucked by a dozen epileptics, although a lot more complex (well, I suppose) and addictive. The "old" vocalist left in 2006, this is when the genre-shift thing happened. Minus The Herd and Cursed are a lot slower, less mindfucking and more groove-oriented, emphasizing the chug-tastic polyrhythms and odd time signatures. They also released a split with Despised Icon, it includes their 2002 demo plus a remastered track off Solace titled "She's Strychnine". It's basically their old albums' style with the new albums' sound. It will rape your mind. If you're unfamiliar with the band, I recommend you start with the early stuff and progress in chronological order.
