The band calls themself 'symphonic black metal' and they certainly get the symphonic part right. There's a lot of symphony going on here but I'm not so sure on the black metal. Metal, yes... maybe not black metal though.
The release puts a lot into it's use and experimentation with keys, possibly some sacrafice in their use. Plenty of songs have long stretches of instrumentation without crossing the pure intrumental line or switching to a doom/funeral feel.
Okay maybe it does get a bit intstrumental.
BUT THAT'S NOT BAD. So don't go into this expecting epic anthems of wails over synths, maybe a strong march would be better.
