This album can be best labeled as "progrind". As the genre I just basically made up is concerned, it is a very amazing combination of progressive wankery and pure fast and insane grind. Some of the songs have absolutely stunning guitar lines, some that would make certain prog bands cry that they didn't think of it. Most of the guitar playing at times sounds improvised. But, it all comes together in the end as a very strange blasting, melodic, angry, screaming CD. Some other unique things here. The music is horrifically technical. The concept of time signatures was basically ruined by this, as most of the songs follow almost no set time sig. Some of the riffs and guitar lines sound folky (such as the beginning of Aura & Ziata). Some are just absolutely godly, and you keep wanting to rewind and play them again just to hear them. Unfortunately, the main downfall of the album is the vocals and the sometimes obvious monotony. The vocals are pretty spazzy, but they are kind of annoying at times. I wish they would have at least varied them a bit, but even with them the CD is near golden. Pick it up if you've lost all hope in grind, love prog and want to see it utilized in other genres, or just like strange stuff.
