Netherbird is a Swedish melodic black metal band with an authentic black metal sound with lovely memorable guitar melodies. They don't abuse the keyboards in every song, which I think many black metal bands tend to do. Instead, they let the guitars speak for themselves and use the keyboard as a song fulfilling ambient, bridge or intro etc. This album kind of grows as it goes along, I found myself raising the volume more and more. It got pretty loud on The Weight of Vapour and had turned to almost deafening on the splendid track Across the Chasm.Another totally wonderful aspect of this band is that both their previous releases are available for free download at their Myspace!
